Wayne L. Wilson 72, of West Terre Haute died Friday, February 16, 2013 at Union Hospital-Terre Haute surrounded by his family and best friends. Mr. Wilson was born on April 30, 1940 in Lawrence County, IL on the Wabash River, the son of Russell and Edith Wilson.Wayne was a retired coal miner with the AMAX Company. He loved NASCAR, mushroom hunting. He and his beloved wife built thier castle on the river untill black lung disease and COPD took over. He lived life to the fullest. He spent his leisure time on the river and was an avid fisherman. Wayne won many catfish contests, so the next time you fish the Wabash, think of Wayne. Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife of eight years Nita, and made her feel like a queen. he loved his instant family and loved them all till the end. Left to cherish his many memories are Jeremi and Rachel Ash, Crystal and Ryan Chandler, Jessica Welling and Britney. His world was his grandchildren; Ryan, Jaylin, Kenzie, Devon, Darion and Kiara. He will be watching from up above all the all sporting events and dance recitals. His extended family is very large, but Ginny and Norman Biggs were his closest because he always protected his “sis”. He is in a better place now without hoses, medicine or machines.
Thanks to all the New Goshen Boys for all the trips to help him.
A big thank you to Union Hospital ICU and the 2nd and 3rd floor nurses for caring for him.
A private celebration of life will take place.
